Learning from the experiences that have occurred, there needs to be a paradigm shift in urban transportation planning, which is to really focus more on the human aspect. Urban transportation planning that has been carried out has tended to emphasize physical aspects such as road traffic capacity and vehicle speed, determining certain transportation modes and building physical infrastructure.

"This sharing is necessary, because as long as we manage transportation in Jabodetabek, BPTJ goes directly to the field so that the data is also premiere data, therefore this experience needs to be shared in development plans, especially transportation in the new capital." Bambang Prihanto said at the Megapolitan Transportation Management Sharing Session which was held at the Redtop Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday (11/14/2019)

The indication of urban transportation planning which emphasizes more on physical aspects is also seen from the planning process which usually only involves a technical approach, is limited to certain administrative areas, lacks vision and lacks development impact analysis.

According to Bambang Prihartono, the new paradigm of transportation planning that focuses on the human aspect is to prioritize the quality of human life, accessibility, economic resilience, social justice and environmental and sustainability aspects as goals that must be achieved. Therefore, according to Bambang, such a planning approach must have a clear and concrete long-term vision and strategy, be consistently integrated across sectors and complement each other. In addition, it is also important to involve cross functional areas of transportation, listas of scientific disciplines and accommodate public participation.
