Shoshi Osiatynski Review of Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa

I was really glad I could book a night at the hotel last minute on vacation so I could have access to the beautiful pool-- it is a big winding pool where you can spend hours and feel like you haven't seen it all/gotten bored. My almost three year old loved the tiny water slide. Also, props to Noah the front desk guy for a pleasant check-in experience. And the common areas of the hotel had beautiful views.
Problems included: Not being allowed to sit in any chairs at the pool because they had all been reserved all day--we were told we could sit in them until we were asked to move-- but not to get too comfortable, as if it were a normal policy for a $300 a night hotel to not have any pool chairs available for paying guests. The pool lady was pretty rude conveying the information and walked away before I could get my questions answered. Also, at no point were even half the chairs filled-- so the reservation system probably needs to be amended for shorter reservations and all guests deserve an explanation of the policy prior to booking. I am used to paying for/booking cabanas but a normal lounge chair or just chair at the pool should be included in the resort fee. The other big problem was that there is no soundproofing in the hallways/ guest rooms. Some other guest in my hallway was having some kind of issue that required Sheraton personnel and while the drunk guest was a little loud and unpleasant it was the Sheraton employee on his radio literally standing in the hallway in front of my door at 1 AM that was really keeping me from getting any sleep. When I popped my head out and told him I couldn't sleep because of the radio-- he said "sorry" but kept radioing in front of my door. He should have walked 15 meters to the common area in front of the elevators where the sound wouldn't have disturbed my family.
