I left my sport coat in the backseat when I return...

I left my sport coat in the backseat when I returned it. I didn't realize it until after I was at the gate ready to depart. It was less than an hour after I dropped it off. I called and spoke to a gentlemen at the lost and found. He said he had located my car and needed to go look for the jacket and would call. I had to depart and when I landed no voicemail. I followed up later that day and on Monday after the weekend. They said they never found it. Hard to believe it disappeared in less than an hour, when the car had not even left the lot. Very disappointed, jacket was a 500+ sport coat.
