My Family and I have used Darnell services off and on since 1979. In 1979 the hospital was outdated so I was elated when they built the new Hospital and called it a Medical Center. Having used both old and new facilities I can say that other than the new building nothing has really changed. The personal for the most part are still caring and provide some of the best medical care in the world. Recently I've used the cardiology clinic and the Pulmonary Clinic. I am very pleased with the services I receive from Pulmonary, while the services I received from cardiology left a lot to be desired. Dr. Daniels has a very poor bedside manor and refused to answer many questions saying it was not his area of medicine. He made me feel as if I was a pain in his side, and he never answered the questions about a condition, that I went to see him for to begin with, so I had to seek outside cardiac care. Pulmonary however was different, the nurses as well as Dr. (Major) Porr have always treated me well and taken care of my medical needs. Medical care at the Primary clinic ( Family Med) is a little lacking, because unless it is a minor issue the Doctor will not treat you but does a referral instead. Dr. Hall is a nice Guy, and his hands apparently are tied in terms of what he can actually provide. Overall, care at Darnell has been good for my family and myself. I remember the days when retirees were treated as step children, and more often than not had to seek care off Post. Sometimes we still have to go off Post. Factually, Military Doctors are the best in the world, but then again I am a military brat, so most of my care has been by Military Doctors. When I say military doctors, I am referring to the active duty military not the civilian doctors that work at Darnell. Thank you Darnell for taking care of myself and my family. Go Army!
