Nicole DeCarlo Review of Longboat Key Club and Resort

Where to begin. What an incredibly disappointing experience with this resort. My advise, DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR WEDDING. We were not so lucky and unfortunately were mistreated, scammed and lied to. We booked this venue for our wedding in JULY of 2018. We thought we had found the perfect place. We were told they had construction going on to fix the front and that it would all be done before our wedding in June of 2019. So we decided to book our wedding on South beach, thinking we just found the perfect place. WELL! 3 months BEFORE our wedding, (after having the wedding planner THEY recommended send out all out invites), we received an email stating they will be beginning construction on the buildings to get ready for their 2020 guests . Sick to our stomachs, we did not want to spend one for our most special days surrounded by construction. They continued on with telling us this was a last minute decision . My husband owns his own part in construction and to try and b.s. people who know that this kind of construction takes planning and permits is sickening. Sickening that they would continue to let us get that far in our wedding planning without a word until 3 months before. They also continued on as if it was not a big deal, and that we could still stay in Building 1 that we were promised and had set up a year prior. We figured okay as long as things can still stay the same and we are able to go through with everything we had already set up in planning. THEN!! LESS than a week before our wedding date we received an email stating that Building 1,2 and 3 were all closed down, that the main heart of the hotel, the main restaurant and pool would be closed. LESS THAN A WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING! while ending their emails AGAIN with getting ready for their 2020 guests . Are you kidding me?!? What about your CURRENT GUESTS who are paying you??? What was even more sickening was that it was like pulling teeth to get confiscated for some of stress they decided to keep bringing right before our wedding! To top it off, the management there is scattered, unreliable, and continued to point fingers at one another, as if the process wasn t stressful enough. Their responses for our concerns consisted of the typical customer service robotic replies.
Long story short, I do not recommend wasting your time, your money or your energy working with these people on a day that is supposed to be so special. I would recommended renting out a house on the beautiful beach before ever having to work with these group of people.
Luckily we had hired other vendors outside of Longboat that helped make our day better and they did.
