I'm writing this review as an ex employee. As a member, this place is still fine enough in some aspects (although, definitely not worth the price). However, as an employee it is nothing but terrible. You are mainly treated as a machine who is expected to work and work and are not treated as a human. Most employees working here are good people, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the management. They are really the ones responsible for the downfall of Virgin Active. Simply incompetent and pretty useless most of them! They sit in their office spying on the employees through the cameras and are more interested in pleasing their bosses than creating a good experience for members and staff. Every time you see the staff working extra hard and the managers running around the club with a bottle of spray, rest assured that one of the regional managers or a relative of Richard Branson is visiting. The good managers don't stay for long and the bad managers stay longer than they should (getting appointed is bad enough). The employee turnover is very high and I personally have seen this club getting worse and worse both for members and staff. And for those thinking the members changing room is bad, please go and have a look at the staff changing room if you can... As a member I would say this gym is ok if you're not too bothered about the price and want to use some decent facilities (including an outdoor pool and tennis courts), a place you can spend weekend with your family, sit and relax or do some work or workout while leaving your kids in the kids club. But don't have too high expectations. This club could have been a thousand times better than what it currently is and that is the most unfortunate part.
