This place was nifty! Loved the whimsical decor, charming waitstaff, and delicious food.
We ordered:
Blistered Asparagus. Dining companions devoured most of it before it got to me so no photo, but I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this dish. The asparagus was well seasoned and cooked to the perfect texture. The tasty eggs and prosciutto added flair.
Garlic Bread. This was okay. The bread was charred which gave it a nice smokiness, but it was not flavorful enough.
Cioppino Pink Door. I expected that their signature dish would not disappoint, and I was absolutely right. The clams, mussels, calamari, prawns, and fish were all delicious, but the broth just knocks the whole experience out of the park. It was flavorful, complex and interesting, without being overpowering. I loved it so much I had to tilt the bowl so I could spoon up every last scrumptious drop. That segues to the best and worst thing about this dish: it does not come with any pasta, bread, or other sort of carby goodness! On the one hand this is a light yet satisfying dish that is perfect all on its own, and I should really be grateful for the lack of additional calories (see: huge serving of tiramisu for dessert); but on the other hand I was a bit taken by surprise and found myself wishing for something to sop up the delightful broth with.
Tiramisu. The serving size was shockingly large and made me feel immense guilt for indulging in such sinful gluttony. It was delicious though - can't go wrong with something so classic!
I also had the mocktail with strawberry puree, lemon juice, and a splash of balsamic vinegar. It was sweet and tart and sublime.
Overall I really enjoyed this restaurant. The meal came out to be a bit pricey but was well worth it. Add in the great service and beautiful decor, I'm sure it'll be a good time for anyone. They also have performances in the evenings, which I plan on returning for!
