My experience when adopting our family dog, "Larry...

My experience when adopting our family dog, "Larry", was nothing but pleasant. The owner, Ana, was very easy to work with and even allowed us to bring Larry into our home, before adopting him, to see if he meshed well with our other dog. Even when Larry got sick during our fostering process, she had a volunteer come to our house, pick him up, and take him to the vet, so neither of my parents would have to take time off from work.

5 years later, when my older brother was looking to adopt a dog of his own, Ana, again, was nothing but pleasant. She let him come in twice to keep looking at dogs that he was interested in.

One thing that I think people need to understand is that this rescue is run completely on donations; therefore, the shelter isn't this beautiful facility that gets funding from the state like other city and state humane societies do. The facility isn't huge, but they have a big enough yard in the back where the dogs are let out SEVERAL times a day to play and run around in. They are not left in cages all day like other people seem to assume. The dogs at this shelter receive tons of LOVE and TLC from all the volunteers.

Also, this shelter is run by ONE person, Ana Bueno. She gets plenty of help from other volunteers, but she is the one in charge of adoptions and approving applications. I understand that it can be frustrating or annoying when you haven't heard back from her, but she runs this shelter PLUS she has another job on top of that.

My experience overall with Ana and this shelter has been nothing but pleasant and I'm forever grateful to her and all the volunteers.
