Received a weekend away as a gift. Refuel in a luxurious room with Jacuzzi. We received a friendly welcome and were referred to a classic room. It was a spacious room with high windows and ceilings, a sitting area and a bathroom with Jacuzzi. It was immediately noticeable that there were damp spots on the wall here and there. That was a pity. We also had a room on the street side where a lot of traffic could be heard through the large windows and the single glazing. After a fun day in the city and bubbly, we try to go to sleep at 23:00. First we hear a mechanical noise from the neighbor's room. This turns out to be their bubble bath. "This is not normal to hear this loud!" The outside noise is quite present in the room and we check whether the windows are really closed. Unfortunately yes. What a drama. Here we lie. We don't sleep a wink that night. The next morning we roll out of bed and report our complaints to the reception. We packed the bags and want to cancel the second night and get our money back. We won't pull this off another night. The receptionist is an intern and asks for some time. We will have breakfast first. After breakfast we come back and are told that the hotel is fully booked. We cannot move to another room. We also do not get our money back. WHAT ?! ... we don't want to spend another night in that hellish room! We ask for the manager who immediately indicates that she cannot give us the money back. If she did that with every noise complaint, she could close the place. So we can leave without money or stay another night !? We are allowed to drop an outstanding bill (one wine, one ginger ale and bread with spreads). Our mouth falls open. That's not how you deal with customers. We pay a considerable amount for a weekend of rest not to wake up all night screaming. We continue to discuss, but soon notice that the manager is not going to move along. In the end she indicates that there are 2 other rooms that we could move to? WHAT?! .... You just said the hotel was fully booked?!.
We decide to move to the other room. This is located at the rear of the building. Fortunately, no traffic passing by, but a view of the roof terraces of student houses, cooing pigeons in the gutter and this room also needs a makeover. Paint is peeling off the walls, the window can no longer be closed completely, the wheels under the TV cabinet are completely bent, some of the caps in the jacuzzi have disappeared, causing your buttocks to rub against protrusions and there are blackout shutters in front of two windows. one not. This means that the room is not darkened. We still get chocolates and a late check-out but our weekend away is already ruined. We will never go to this hotel again and certainly do not recommend it.
