Queues are horrendously long. It's easy to get there on the train and the Palace is spectacular. The gardens even more so, but in order to see them in all their glory, you need to avoid the winter months, as the statues are wrapped up in a protective cover and the fountains are not working. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Paris.
