This is a great place for the family, especially younger kids. They have a wide assortment of displays, some which are interactive. There is also a small aquarium with a petting station. The space shuttle Endeavor is housed there and costs only $2 per person to see. They also have an IMAX theater where you can watch educational films for a fee.
The exhibits have a broad range (e.g. aerospace/aeronautics, ecology, biology). The exhibits are kid friendly, but will also appeal to adults and teenagers also.
There is a food court in the lower level which is very reasonably priced. This leads to the Rose Garden, which it's name implies, is a garden containing a large variety of rose plants.
The only drawback is that, depending on when you go, it can be very busy. This is especially true in the summer; many kids' summer camps come here. This means that some of the more popular interactive displays may be hard to use.
The best part of this: IT'S FREE!!! Only the above mentioned (space shuttle and IMAX) cost money, and they are relatively cheap.
I highly recommend taking the family at least once.
