I recently donated through the egg bank and am really happy with the overall experience. I started the process of donation eligibility in January, but due to Covid it took a while to actually go through with the donation. The team at the clinic were all very professional and helpful and I genuinely felt that they appreciated my donation and understood the process I was going through. The actual donation cycle lasted about 2 weeks and I always felt like I was being looked after and given all of the relevant information for me. I was open about my nervousness around the medication (which are injections) and was shown all of the different types multiple times including how to inject them. All of the doctors and nurses were attentive to my health during this time, even checking in on small red patches from injection site. The day of the donation was smooth and again everyone was really friendly and helpful. The anaesthetist was particularly lovely to me as I had never been sedated before so he was happy to put me at ease and he was very funny! The lead nurse on duty was also really comforting when I got a little emotional after the procedure had finished (happy tears!!). A big thanks to Bethany, Katie and Tsi Tsi at the London Bridge clinic who were all amazing during my sign ups and check ins! I m only a couple of days post my first donation cycle but I d certainly like to look at doing it again in the future :) It s a lovely thing to do and I feel like I ve really given someone a chance to do something important to them, I d definitely encourage other women to think about donation.
