L. Bloom Review of Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa

Pros: The suite is really great, with a fireplace, a porch balcony, a kitchenette, and a comfy bed. (The views of Bell Rock are mostly across a parking lot just so you know.) The sound insulation is far better than in a Holiday Inn, too. I also like the location away from busier Sedona.
There are some mildly weird and annoying things about this resort, though:
1. No resort amenities guide in the room. On a rather large campus, it s really hard to figure out what s available at the spa or what s on the restaurant menu, etc. (Why isn t all of this in the app Hilton is so heavily promoting??)
2. The activity schedules as posted online, on the flyer, and in the lobby are all apt to contradict one another, so be sure to check with guest services about what is actually happening, when, and where.
3. The spa and spa pool area feel dated... and naturally both the sauna and steam room are out of order.
4. What s the point in a digital key if it doesn t work at the pool (even though the digital key clearly picks up the presence of a pool door)? After I picked up a physical key, my digital key no longer worked not sure if that was a coincidence or part of the design, but I wasn t warned.
5. The outdoor restaurant is a lovely space at night but left some things to be desired. Cheesy 80s rock set the tone. Service was very slow ever to check in. As for the food, they were not even trying on my Cobb salad the chicken and even the poached egg were cold. I heard the neighboring table complain about cold soup, and the server said they could heat it up but it might overcook the shrimp as if that were the patrons problem to sort out?? (There was also an issue with their tacos.)
5. I saw a room-service plate left outside the door from early evening till at least late the next morning. A frame on a tripod where a sign might have stood outside the restaurant had all kinds of random junk hanging from it. It s little things like this that can just contribute to making a place feel low-rent.
