Hannah Visser Review of The Lodge on Gorham's Bluff

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary this past weekend with a trip to Gorham's Bluff. I had heard about it on a local radio talk show, and I was thrilled to find this retreat. I will start by saying that the drive through Pisgah, AL was a nice change of pace, with multiple crop fields and livestock. Once we arrived, we were met in the lodge dining area with the map to our cottage. We opted for space and privacy over the view from the lodge. We stayed in the Greek Revival Cottage, and it was very easy to find and very charming. Sure, some paint is peeling on the outside, but that didn't bother us one bit. The living room and kitchenette were cozy, the wifi was complimentary, and we appreciated DISH TV. Upstairs, the bedroom was lovely, and we admired the aesthetic so much that we may copy it for our own bedroom! The corner of the bedroom does have some obvious water damage in the ceiling and a little on the walls. I would hope and assume that the roof leak has been fixed, and the inner repair has just yet to be tackled. That being said, it did not blemish the experience for us whatsoever.
We ate breakfast and dinner at the lodge, and we both enjoyed our selections very much! For breakfast we both chose the pancakes with maple butter, and they were delicious! The maple butter really made them special. At dinner, we brought our own champagne we drank at our wedding (this is a dry county, and you must BYOB) and chose different meals. Both meals were a delight, and the sunset we were met with as we arrived for our meal really made the whole experience one of a dream. Even on an overcast day, the view from the lodge is stunning and so serene. We have a six year old and a ten month old at home, and the peace and quiet that Gorham's Bluff gave us was exactly what we both needed.
At the end of our stay, my husband and I both agree that we must return in the future with one of our couple friends and go exploring the trails.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!
