Katie Yamada Review of Odd Duck Cattle Company

Odd Duck was incredibly busy when we came in. We arrived around 7pm on a weekday night and were told it'd be a 45m wait for 3 people. We ended up waiting around 20m before we were offered the corner area near the bar. Taking in how busy the restaurant was, we realized this was probably one of our only options.
Upon being seated, the server at the bar promptly arrived and kindly walked us through the menu and specials since it was our first time. Being incredibly hungry and overly excited about trying the food, we got a little ambitious with ordering dishes.
We ordered the red fish ceviche, pretzel with chorizo spiced mushroom, fried brown rice with duck egg, wagyu bavette, shrimp and kimchi and another special dish with waygu. Here's the roundup, the ceviche and fried brown rice are a must. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp and kimchi, it tasted like cioppino or manhattan clam chowder, and the shrimp was rather fishy (it was the only dish we didn't finish). The waygu was a close second to the first two dishes, the pretzel was great (but not amazing). All in all, I'd still rate this place 5 stars given the uniqueness of the dishes, the quality of the food was clearly consistently good across many different flavors and types of dishes. The service was fantastic - our waiter/bartender was friendly, engaging and attentive (especially given how busy the bar area was). I will likely be back next time I'm in town.
