It was a disappointment. I bought tickets online to avoid queuing but I still had to wait for security check for about 1,5hrs. No toilets, no garbage bins. Inside I complained about that and the fact that they were using only one X-ray machine when they had 2 and enough personnel. The guy started HOWLING at me to get moving. The supervisor just looked blandly. Disgusting. The palace itself is a fast walkthrough with queen's apartments and some of the king's closed, while some new rooms opened but with only some paintings on the walls and the mirrors gallery. In between some movies were shown. Luckily, because only there you can see the fountains working. I seem to remember that at my previous visit the Trianon domain could be visited with the same ticket. Not anymore. You have to pay separately for each palace. Last time I visited it, it had much more substance and it was a lot less expensive. Be prepared to spend about 50 with transport and all. The French don't care very much about the tourists: all announcements on the RER are made only in French. You have to understand the system behind the train designation to get on the right train (no clear indication of the destination on the train); errors are very easy to make. At the Versailles station, no indicator to the palace. If you find the map, don't take that route. Just turn right at the exit from the station and turn left at the first street light.
