A architecturally significant plantation house with one of the most symmetrical floor plans I've seen with near perfect natural ventilation. The Great House circa 1736-1739 forms the letter 'H,' with a large central hallway with the other rooms adjoining this area with symmetrically placed doors at either side. Authentic 18th C furnishings. The house perched high on the site overlooking the Potomac was home to two signers of The Declaration of Independence and is well preserved including several outbuildings.
