My stay at Farnham was really lovely but slightly marred by small avoidable errors that were irritating for what could have been an outstanding stay.... Special request for room was not followed through on and was told at check in that I would have to pay extra however on production of email confirming price includind request it was grudgingly provided. After quite a long walk to room key card would not work ( TWICE). I would have expected a member of staff to accompany me to my room at least the 2nd time to ensure I could gain access... Prior booking in restaurant was not recorded but they had plenty of availability so not a problem.... This is a beautiful hotel with amazing food, bars, facilities, spa, afternoon tea, grounds and golf but they let themselves down with unhelpful staff at reception and minor errors that keep it from getting a 5 star review.... Receptionists need 5* training some empathy and an intensive course in customer service and attitude... I must add that staff in all other areas were fantastic, helpful, engaging, friendly, professional and a credit to the hotel. If you book with any special requests re: your room or bookings my tip would be to have it all in writing before you arrive.
