This client purchased a basic resume and completed an information-gathering questionnaire. The submitted resume showed a very limited employment tenure at each company. Neither the client nor the completed information-gathering questionnaire indicated any reason why the length of employment at each organization was so limited. During each step of the project, the client was consulted and offered opportunities to make corrections to the draft. Those edits and corrections were incorporated. The client also rated the first draft sent to her 3 stars out of 5, and the final draft 4 stars out of 5. There was no way the writer would know that 3 out of 5 employment jobs were contract jobs. The old resume they submitted did not reflect this information. They also did not mention this before this public review, therefore this was not reflected in their new resume. This client is correct, no resume is guaranteed to get anyone job interviews, or even a screening interview unless the person completing the resume is also the hiring manager. We treat all our clients with the utmost respect, but also provide them with honest feedback when asked. There was no “bashing” intended at all. We did advise the client that several variables may impact the lack of response from potential employers, most of which we cannot control. This included advising that even an organization Applicant Tracking System (ATS) would immediately pick up the fact that the resume shows multiple short employment stints at each company, and would most likely discontinue the candidacy.
