The hotel appearance and the reconstructions are beautifully made ( I used to visit the same building very often, when it was serving as the Ministry of Trade HQ).
The service of all employees we have encountered was extremely friendly, however, it seemed that some of them were not yet knowledgeable as you might expect from such an acclaimed facility.
In this respect, I have to praise the Palace Restaurant manager, Mr. Tim, who made an effort together with the Chef to create special dishes for my wife who is vegan, while we were celebrating our anniversary dinner in the restaurant.
The room we got (Grand DL) was very spacious and in high standards, although, the fact that there are no rooms facing the old city, seems odd, for hotel which is so nearby, while other hotels with similar rates/standards do take advantage of this magnificent view.
As someone who keeps regular training routine, I was surprised from the poor workout/fitness facilities, with no swimming pool (which is a must have in the Israel hot weather), and with such a small and unequipped gym. In this respect, I have to say that the hotel website is misleading, describing specifically a Fitness Center, Fitness options and a Spa.
Another downside I have to point out, is the lack of an Executive Lounge. As a Diamond level member of the Hilton Chain and as a Gold member of the Marriott chain, an Executive lounge is another must have in the top tier venues of these hotels chains.
The overall feeling is that although the hotel has a great potential, it is either lost in the smaller details, or that it is still in the run-up period, and if this is the case, it should be mentioned specifically in the website.
