First, I would like to say that this hotel was not...

First, I would like to say that this hotel was not booked by my choice, it was booked by someone else, as we were in New Orleans for business. The staff was friendly for the most part when we arrived. The room was nice, but oddly shaped and rather small. We were staying for a week and were trying to be moderately conscious of our spending, and had originally planned not to eat out for every single meal. The room did have a mini fridge, however, it said that if we removed anything from this mini fridge to keep our own items cool, or added anything, they would charge us a restocking fee... something like $25. Absurd.
We decided, "Okay fine we don't have to keep anything in this refrigerator, we will just get some ice and keep some drinks in the room."
My second most important complaint would be that there wasn't a coffee pot in the room. Never in my life have I stayed in a hotel without a coffee pot. (The Roosevelt may be one of the prettiest hotels I've stayed in, but the lack of a coffee pot was just a downer.) There was a restaurant in the hotel where I could buy coffee.. or I could order room service and pay $9 for a two cups... NO Thank you!!

My final complaint. Upon checkout we had a bill for something like $25 dollars for drinks at the pool bar one day. That was fine and we left. When we arrived home, probably a week later, my boyfriend checked his credit card statement and saw that there was a charge for $36 rather than $25. We called the hotel and they told us that we had taken a red bull out of the mini fridge, on the day that we checked out. We left at 6:00 am. We hadn't taken anything out of the mini fridge, because the thought of paying any of the prices for the mini items in the mini fridge was appalling. After numerous phone calls to the hotel, the issue still goes unresolved. Had our stay not been pre-paid we may not have noticed that $11 extra charge for something we hadn't used. It makes me wonder, how often do the cleaning people take things from the mini fridge after people check out, bill it to the customer and nobody ever notices.... Food for thought. Side note: While we were there we thought we misplaced a pair of sunglasses... after this fiasco with the stolen red bull, we have come to believe that the cleaning staff probably helped themselves to them.

I don't frequent New Orleans, but in the odd chance I do return, I will definitely NOT be staying in The Roosevelt.

My only reason for giving it two stars, is that it was a beautiful hotel.
