I was sent to SGMC by a local doctor's office for an X-Ray of my foot. I don't know if entrances were changed due to Covid or because it was Saturday but the changes were not posted. The outpatient entrance was locked. I found a lady in the parking lot in scrubbs and asked where I should go for out patient X-rays. She sent me to the parking deck. That entrance was manned and they tried to announce me. After three unanswered phone calls they gave me directions to Radiology. No one was there. I called the help line and a very nice young lady named Samantha came and took me to the Emergency Department so I could sign in. I explained why I was there, filled out forms, and waited. A lady called me back, took my vitals, and wanted a complete description of my injury. She then put me in an exam room in the ER. A young man with a computer came by and took all my information again.
Samantha walked by and saw me and asked why I was in the ER. I was supposed to have been signed up and sent back to radiology. I then had to wait for the ER to discharge me so I could go back to the ER waiting room and wait to be signed in again for outpatient X-rays. Samantha came by and took me back to radiology for the five minutes it took to get three X-rays of my foot.
I was at SGMC for two hours for five minutes of X-rays. At a time when we have all been hiding out to stay away from healthy people, I spent two hours sharing air with sick people.
I am glad you have at least one person like Samantha who cares about people. No one else seemed to. Samantha is the only reason I gave SGMC the second star.
