Just had an extraordinary experience with Arpi's. I had a furnace stop working at 4:30pm two days before Xmas. We called Arpi's immediately. They made is very clear upfront there was a call out fee, regardless of what they found. We had the error code, furnace model and everything they needed to come with the right parts.

The tech came around later in the evening, poked around for 30 minutes and declared we needed a new motor. He promptly quoted us $2500 for parts and labour. That's right, the retail cost of the entire furnace itself. I asked for a breakdown of the parts and labour cost and he refused to supply it, just saying it was a all in cost. Which is beyond bizarre. There are 3 motors in the furnace, each which will have a different cost and labour cost to replace, but he would not even explain which one (the most expensive one, which was not in the error code, is $400 online.)

I told him this was simply unacceptable and we could not afford it and asked to speak to his manager. which he refused as it was after hours. In the end we decided to freeze through the night rather than be extorted. In the morning I called a different company, who got there in a couple hours, quickly found the issue with the condensor not draining, and fixed it in under 10 minutes. No parts needed, and although it was xmas eve, they still came in cheaper for the call out and labour than just the call out from Arpi's. They were astounded by the Arpi's story, and noted that any one with any experience with furnaces would have found the issue in seconds from the symptoms. Not only was the Arpi's tech woefully under-qualified, but he tried to extort us for a crazy amount of money to cover his lack of knowledge. Needless to say, trying to call his manager today did not work. They are off for Xmas already, but can't even work out how to put a message on their phone system to that effect.

Clearly, if you have a furnace in need of repair, go anywhere but here.
