In my opinion Family court is nothing more than big business. My ex was with an abusive boyfriend that was on probation for domestic violence and also had a warrant for shoplifting. When I got all the police reports on their address the judge told my attorney that if I wanted to reopen the case then I needed to file a motion to modify when he hadn't even signed the divorce papers yet, which to reopen would have costed thousands more.
