Came into E.R. today for my husbands eyes, doctors referred me to go to E.R. ASAP to be seen by opthomolgist. He was having red itchy hurting and blurred eyes, blurred vision, and his skin was puffy. Headaches behind eyes. Told attending. And he had someone else come in. Then he took him back and looked at his eyes with a machine to see if they were at all scratched. Ended with he had allergic conjunctivitis, after saying that he wasnt describing conjunctivitis. After I told the attending w weere sent down to see an opthomolgist he said we need to see one ASAP but he wasnt getting one (EVEN THOU YOU HAVE ONE ON CALL 24/7) because he said AND I QUOTE "IT WAS NOT AN EMERGENCY" His vision is blurred and going, he used to have PERFECT VISION and it was not, I was sitting there with my glasses and he couldn't read pass line 3.... He had 20/20 and now its going. And in your notes to "come back if this happens" was vision decreasing....so why exactly do you have specialist on call, when he is being told to see one ASAP and hecame to be treated. Now we are going to be paying a bill that we could have waited to to the opthomolgist. His father has a history and died from anyreusm, yet no CT scan was ordered. "Pain behind eyes, blurred and double vision, headaches" all symptoms also of an anyreusm yet no one looking. Attending was RUDE when all we want are answers, not have him bombarded with questions if he is using drugs, when asked and told he was not, attending asked 2 to 5 more times every time he came back. Wewill not be going back to your hospital.if this gets worse because he was denied being seen by appropriate specialist or appropriate tests being run. I will be contacting appropriate people too. It's sad that people have to fight for their health and doctors dont care. We came to metro because I was told I would get help for him. I could have went and got over counter that was prescribed. But not told why this is happening to him. And nothing done or said about my skin in my discharge papers. You have jobs to treat then do it! Not try and get rid of people that actually need help, and being accused of taking drugs majority of the questions at first. If you think that's what it was then piss test him. But I kept telling them and they wouldn't stop asking him. We answered you MULTIPLE TIMES. If you arent going to listen and just push him aside and not get him the help he needs why do you even have an E.R. or hospital for that matter?
