Dan White Review of eforea: spa at Hilton in the H...

My son and I stayed there last month for a hockey tournament.
My first disappointment was in booking. I was originally told I could not have the team discount rate of 119.00 because I was booking late. Later, on the phone I was told that since the hotel had vacancies they would offer it to me anyway. A nice gesture of good will.
That good will lasted until I checked in. I was told that my room would be almost 200.00. When I explained what had happened I was told there was nothing they could do. Really!? How can that be!?
When I asked for the number for Hilton headquarters I was told to look it up myself
I contacted head office and spoke to someone who seemed to understand my plight. They asked me to hold while they contacted the hotel. I held. And I held. After 20 minutes or so head office apologized for the delay. They aren t answering my calls, she said.
They offered me a discount for future Hilton stays but nothing them the hotel itself.
Breakfast was another disappointment. Everything was cold and with a discount came to 28.00 for a 10 year old and adult.
Perhaps the worst example of how this hotel seeks to suck every dollar out of you was the lobby coffee. Most hotels I ve stayed in offer free lobby coffee
This hotel had coffee in the lobby as well. They only have one size (probably the size of a small Tim s cup) but that s fine
As I was making my coffee an employee approached me. She asked how I was paying for the coffee or did I want it charged to me room.
Charge was $4.20. For a coffee I made myself.
The pool was a gong show. Truthfully could be some false advertising as the pool is actually shared with a health club. Not sure that s obvious on the website.
To be fair the rooms were clean and I received a nice note of appreciation for the tip I left from a staff member.
The hotel is well laid out and upon first impression looks like a great hotel.
I ve read that it s listed as a five star. Considering my room overlooked what appears to be the beginning of a world class junk yard I m not sure how that can be.
Overall a really bad experience. If you chose to stay here I d suggest you get confirmation of everything and be prepared to pay for every little thing.
