For more than a decade my wife & I and many friends have been enjoying the fine dining experiences at the essence of Unionville, but alas NO MORE.
We came with our family to yesterdays offering of Thanksgiving Dinner. We cannot think of one redeeming factor that made this a pleasant experience. All the food was cold & much of it under cooked, There were no table signs to indicate what the dish was ,when we asked one of the servers he just said, "Lift the lid". There was NO nicely sliced turkey just a turkey roll cooked to death in some kind of brown gravy, same story with the fish, I asked what type of fish & was told, it's whitefish - very informative. We do believe that more than one of you cold cuts of meat was OFF in the worst way, 4 out of the 6 of us have had continual diarrhea until noon the following day. Only 1 soup was offered - Pumpkin, which none of us was interested in trying. The desert table was a complete joke -cold apple crumble & a few little cakes of no significance.
With respect to service, well at a buffet it is customary for the waiters to remove used dishes from the table when patrons go for another course, but every time we came back to the table, there were still dirty dishes on the table. It's almost as though you had a new crew of people who had never done this before. all this for the handsome sum of $45.00 per ++we all agreed that we would have been better of at the Mandarin, much more of everything and at half the price.
As a final note, the open concept you have created is really not appropriate, I don't want to see bridal parties coming in for photo shoots & other guests hanging around peering in at you, makes you feel like you are on display, intimate dining is the name of the game, you really should get with the program. I am sorry to see a once great eating establishment go down the toilet but I am afraid that's where it belongs.
Yours Truly,
David A Ellis
