Recommended by Social worker at hospital. It sounded too good to be true. They deliver all of the supplies, send nurses everyday to check on hospice patient, bring in the prescriptions, etc. Help us and the dying patient get through this difficult time. This was NOT the experience we had. The delivery of bed, matterss etc. was late and the person delivering did not know how to put the bed together or hook up the oxygen. He had to call someone and I had to help him. I already had enough stress getting 24 hour care set up and did not need this added on top. The nurse came an hour late due to a car accident. This is understandable but not coming with any supplies is NOT. I had to go out and purchase supplies needed everything from diapers to Toothettes, I had no idea what these even were! Then when I returned she tells me the VNA will pay if I go back to the two pharmacies and tell them to give me my money back and charge them instead!!! Not happening this already took over an hour. Furthermore she says they only visit a couple of times a week....not the care I was expecting at all. I have heard so much about how compassionate and caring Hospice is but I can tell you that was not my experience. The Care givers I hired from another agency were the true Angels. I know I would not consider this hospice agency again. They even had the nerve to leave an envelope with the funeral home to give to us. Believe it or not it was a letter asking for a donation....unbelievable. I thought it would be a sympathy card but nope...just wanted money...I am sure there a some great agencies out there but from my experience this is not one of them.
