As a history teacher who also minored in art history, my recent trip to Rome was very long in the making. I was so excited to see the sights and the wonderful art. To be completely honest, the Vatican museums are incredibly full of wonderful things to see. However, I will say that if you take a tour like we did and use the ear pieces that they provided, you will not be able to hear. Perhaps my tour guide messed something up, but my husband and I struggled to hear her over the tremendous static for the duration of the tour. Additionally, if I could give the staff of this museum a negative score, I would. I am from NY...worked in NYC for years...and I can honestly say that never in my life have I encountered such rude museum guides. They seemed just miserable and were literally screaming at the masses of people that I was surrounded by as we tried to enter and enjoy the Sistine Chapel. I was so offended by their obnoxious screaming at us to get to the back of the room that we left. I could not enjoy the art work because it was crammed with people..worse that a NY subway at rush hour...right before a holiday weekend. They should do a better job of crowd control and find a way to be more humane and pleasant to the paying customers who have literally traveled across the world to be there. I did not see a single person using a phone or being disrespectful in the Chapel and the museum workers still behaved like raving lunatics without a shred of decency. honestly, worst part of our trip to Rome and Florence.
