Not exactly what we expected. My husband decided to surprise me with a birthday staycation. He booked the suite and paid upfront for what he thought was a fancy brunch. The service was fantastic, but the facility itself was mediocre. We were greeted warmly by the front desk upon check in. All interaction with the staff was fantastic, but that s about it.
We stayed on a 10th floor suite. To be completely honest, it surprised us that the room was so dated looking. The room was VERY worn; wallpaper was peeling on almost every wall, stains on the upholstered chairs, popcorn ceilings, the mini-fridge appeared to be from the 1980s and required a key (which we received during check-in), the view was really the only desirable part about the room. The mini-fridge we acquired the key to was stocked full of warm (supposed to be cold) beverages. We couldn t even put our wine in there had the fridge been working anyhow. Dust was accumulating on said popcorn ceiling right near the a/c vents, the what we think was a bidet didn t work, the tub was a standard run-of-the-mill tub that was very worn, shower water pressure was poor, basically I was not seeing anything upscale about the suite we stayed in and felt like staying home would have been more luxurious.
I was willing to overlook the accommodations and just enjoy it for what it was, but then night came and the a/c we set to mid 60s temp earlier in the day never actually reached the target temperature. The room was humid and probably never actually got down below 74 degrees. This made for a very uncomfortable sleep. Again, I brushed this off and figured the brunch the next morning would make up for this mediocre room and poor sleep.
The breakfast...it was a slightly better than La Quinta warm breakfast. My husband was under the impression this was going to be a fancy brunch considering the reviews for the restaurant during lunch/dinner times were fabulous . The most impressive part of this breakfast was the coffee and sausage. That s about it. Don t walk in there at breakfast in your nicest attire and expect a fancy-pants breakfast because it is NOT that even though the pricing suggests that ($22/person).
Overall, not impressed. What we thought would be a fancy, special staycation birthday getaway really was a downgraded version of home with a slightly better than average free continental breakfast at your La Quinta or Holiday Inn.
