I was here around 2002 and it was easy to buy a ticket and get in. I remember the line being about 30 yards long. My French Godmother would have none of that and just marched my children and I to the head of the line and in we went. No waiting! You can't be that bold any more. The line in June 2019 seemed like a half mile long and there was no cutting in line and that was for those who already had tickets! It took over an hour to get in. My recommendation is to book a timed entry and a tour. You won't have the wait and you'll see a lot more than in the self guided tour. Either way though, self guided or tour you'll enjoy yourself.
