Tattered remnants of Denton County Electric, a once robust and financially sound REA cooperative driven into bankruptcy by a former manager with dreams of becoming the next T. Boone Pickens. He took the utility out of the REA in order to use it as collateral for bank loans to fund real estate misadventures and other follies unrelated to energy. Efforts have since been made by some of his syncopates to whitewash the whole affair and restore reputations via public speaking and carefully choreographed YouTube videos.
