My dad had a life insurance policy with Continental which was purchased by Washington National. When he died and my mom submitted a claim, they insisted that dad didn't have a beneficiary designation and we'd need to hire a lawyer. When we pointed out the designation on the policy, they simply quit talking to us. I guess they can talk to the State Insurance Commission investigators.
