The Manila Hotel is a gem you might overlook in lieu of newer, fancier places in Manila.

I think I worked my way up here after staying in all sorts of hotels all over Manila.

Once I got here I told a friend, "I don't want to leave!"

I'm not going to sing high praise about the city of Manila. But I will sing high praise to The Manila Hotel for being like an oasis away from the clutter, chaos and traffic of the city.

The staff is largely young, enthusiastic and helpful. The morning buffet rivals the MGM Grand buffet in Vegas.

The hotel has General MacArthur's history as well. But it is the modern traditions like Christmas lobby decorations the Manila Hotel does so well.

Several local events were held at the hotel during my stays here. It indicates that the "locals" frequent here too.

I'm writing this review from my room after using the health club and pool.

You can't go wrong with this place.
