It is well nigh time for uptown to realize it s potential. It is near the lake, there are beautiful buildings, and it is convenient to everything. If you read the history, uptown was once a pre-eminent area of Chicago. I had wondered how wicker park and bucktown surpassed uptown with far less inherent amenities. Uptown was packed with the people who required lots of city services to create a bankable voting block for an alderman. Cappleman has turned a languishing area into one with real promise. The Wilson station which was a crime trap and unsightly is wonderful. New buildings are going up. It seems to me the people who actually own property in uptown like Cappleman and those who don t have a problem with him. A lake view should not be a feature of cheap, run down buildings.
