They called us to offer a stay in exchange for listening to sales pitch. The original accommodations they offer for the cheap rate are a little bit further away. For an up charge we decided to stay on peak 8 (I think, maybe 9) so we could see what the place was like.

Place was very nice, underground covered parking, ski in/ski out, ski lockers right inside the doors. Lobby and common areas were nice, but carpet and paint need upgrade and was starting to show wear. The room itself was very nice. 1 bedroom with kitchen and dining room/living room.

Now to the presentation. Guy was nice off the bat and asked a lot of questions about our vacation habits. I was very upfront with him and said we weren t buying anything, but would be open to the presentation. He showed us a couple different room types and they were all very nice. We got back to his desk and he started into his script about how much sense timeshares make, that they can be traded for other locations, they are selling out, etc.

The problem is he was trying to sell us a week in the fall or spring when we told him we were skiers. They do this bc it s cheaper. It was around $40k for the cheaper weeks. When we inquired about more desired weeks we were quoted anywhere between $200-$250k.

When you look at the amortization schedule at the interest rate they offer, you will end up paying double the price of the timeshare. I asked about this and he said most pay cash so they don t get their required interest rate. I tried to inform him of PV and FV of money but he seemed more content to argue what a deal it was.

When I told him I don t buy anything on impulse his attitude and demeanor changed. The questions he asked earlier in presentation were then turned around on us to pressure us into a sale. I get it, his job is to sell these things and the odds of buying once you leave are probably next to nil.

They next brought his manager closer in for one last sale and offer a can t beat return trip to the property. I politely declined and this guy got a little testy so I asked him, if time shares are so desirable, why are there so many commercials on tv helping you to get out of them? . He thanked me for my time and said we could leave.
