Really fantastic zoo and grounds. One of the best attractions in Melbourne. I would highly recommend visiting Monday to Friday and avoiding school holidays as it can get very busy at times. If you do happen to go during holiday or on the weekend it's best to catch public transport as it can be very difficult to find parking at peak times.

The staff are all fantastic and knowledgeable. There is a great emphasis placed on conservation and the environment and the zoo has accomplished many great things.

It can be hard to see everything in one day or if you're short on time as the zoo is quite large. I would highly recommend at least visiting the lemur island and gorilla rainforest walk as well as the elephant trail.

I also recommend packing some food to take into the zoo as the on site catering options are somewhat limited and very expensive.
