I give this hotel five stars for value based on excellent service and a fabulous location. The rooms (never very large in NYC) were very clean, will designed if simple, and thoughtfully arranged. Every member of the staff we dealt with was extremely friendly and helpful. As we were there in summer, we loved taking a coffee to beautiful Bryant Park from the little bistro a few doors down, Le Pain Quotidien, where we had breakfast. (Pain Quo. is a chain but a great one, and European. The hotel serves breakfast too, and provides room service, but we didn't try it.) We also ate outdoors at the restaurant in Bryant Park the night we arrived. Lovely! Very decent menu for a spot with so much tourist appeal.
The best part came after we left! I always leave something in hotels. This was the first time ever that the maid turned it in--a sweater. Someone from the hotel was very kind, helpful, and prompt about mailing it to me in Boston. Of course I paid for the FedEx or whatever fee it was. Don't remember if there was a service charge. I would expect so. Highly recommend.
