I registered in january for an oral course. I wanted to improve my english and especially the "speaking english". I am very pleased with the course because teachers are very good and give you the opportunity to speak a lot during the 2 hours' course. Topics are various and we can exchange opinions. Even if opinion is divided, it is a way to debate in english, learn vocabulary and idiomatic expressions for example with other studends.
Teachers are very patient and pay attention to everything that is going on. They correct mistakes and try to give us a good pronunciation. The athmosphere during the course is both, serious and friendly. Teachers bring us a lot and are very avalaible to answer our questions and let us know how to improve more the topic we have just studied for example.
Each week, we have to prepare a newspaper's article in order to summarise it in 2 minutes times to our colleagues. It is a great exercise and it makes me more confident in speaking and my mistakes have been corrected.
In addition to the course itself, british council, each month proposes extra events, as a quizz or debates on particular topics. For example i participated in a spring quizz an a special evening before the royal wedding.
It is a way to meet people of other courses and to speak english with teachers and students who are in the same event. It is lively, friendly and very often funny. At these occasions, British Council offers food and drinks. (It is like an after work).
This year BC organised a day in London. I joined the group and it was a very pleasant and busy day.
