*AVOID IF AT All POSSIBLE*

*AVOID IF AT All POSSIBLE*
Where do I start? *Extremly basic*
Booked 2 rooms for one night after our plans changed staying elsewhere, and after staying the night and experiencing the "hotel" it was WAY overpriced, and the 3 star rating is way over par for what you will pay for here. Had I not already paid on arrival, I would have refused point blank to pay to stay here. I had just come from a cheaper B&B the night before and was of a much higher standard than Treacys in every way. On arrival (1pm) we asked could we check in early and were advised our rooms were not ready yet(which was fine), so we asked could we leave our bags at reception so we could head up to the town for a spot of shopping. We were told they would then have to be left in their tea room area which was "secure due to their camera system". Before we took a walk up to the town we booked into their leisure centre for swimming on return. After a 2 hour tip up to the town, we got back to reception where they had allocated the 2 rooms the wrong way around, and under the incorrect names.

We collected our keys, took our bags from the tea room without question by anyone, and made our way to the room.

On entry to the room it was obvious that it had not been sufficiently cleaned after the previous guests, and the aptly named "Seal Of Approval" on the door had been broken and placed on the frame of the door prior to our entry. The room stank of smoke, the windows were left open (as they don't have air conditioning) and the interior was disgusting. Snot on the shower curtain, dead insects left in the sink and window, and the finishings were either damaged or broken. Straight back to reception, where they offered me the option of a different room, which to be fair wasn't much better.

Our dinner plans changed which we had booked in the town, which meant that the only option was to go down to the residents bar for food. We were advised to use the "table pay" app which was provided, and to say this was a farce was an understatement. An extra charge of 4 to order yourself, only for it to come out of the kitchen / bar wrong or not at all. Garlic bread not cooked, pasta overcooked. We found ourselves just asking the wait staff to order after we made our initial order. Not to mention the poor quality deep fried food or free cordial from the bar for the children -vs- the 1 charge for each drink on their app. The service staff were friendly and understanding of the issues, and seemed to be unbothered by the negative feedback which they were well aware of.
The bar area was full to the brim with locals in for the football, and not a single sight of food in front of them or contact details being taken. I was asked on arrival if I had a room, but that was about it.

As for the sleeping arrangements - Beds are old, sheets curtains were dated, and the pillows were atrocious.

Breakfast the next morning was par for the course as we queued for in the main breakfast area, and were then told to go to another breakfast room due to the number of people in the room. The manager (with no mask or face shield) welcomed us on arrival and seated us, only to be served warm bread, cold coffee, and not a single condiment on the table. At one point I actually walked to the back of the service area to ask for milk for the children's cereal.

I then watched on as guests arrived and there was nobody there to meet them, so the "chef" left her station behind the cooked food station to check people in, and then pick up the pens and book only to return to her service station and continue serving food. I could mention a lot of other points on here, such as no lifeguard in the pool area, filthy reception area, kids running up and down the halls at 1am, or the shouting in the carpark after the bar closed, but feel this is just a fair reflection of how our stay in Treacys went.
I was not impressed in the slightest with the standard of the rooms, the service, or the quality of the food and beverages we consumed here. Our stay here has somewhat put a dampener on what was a great week in Co. Clare.
