My wife and I decided to try the Kauai Backcountry Adventures tubing experience on a whim during our honeymoon, and we LOVED IT! This is definitely not your typical tubing down a lazy river experience. It's a one-of-a-kind thing you can really only do in Kauai, HI! Set in 150 year old Lihue Sugar Plantation irrigation channels, it's like an amusement park ride with a lush tropical backdrop and so much history!

The experience starts off with wearing protective gear (gloves, life vests, helmets, etc) and a 15-20 shuttle ride with lots of historical trivia to where the tubing starts. The views are amazing and cannot be seen by the public as most is private land.

Then, a short safety demo and off to tubing!

The water is cool and refreshing and isn't very deep. There is a good mix of leisure, but also a fair amount of rushing waters to get the adrenaline pumping. There are 5 tunnels that are completely dark and headlights are used to see in them. Pictures are taken at various points that can be purchased.

After tubing, we went to a beautiful remote location for a picnic lunch. Overall, the this is about a 3-hour experience, so plan accordingly!

Jandy and Kevin were excellent guides who were very funny, friendly and outgoing, knowledgeable with the land, and kept us feeling safe throughout the experience.
