Adam Weakley Review of The Home Depot

Save yourself a headache and do not use their contractor services unless you are in the mood to spend a fortune for unsafe work practices and shoddy construction. I purchased a front door plus installation, about $2500 in all. It has been a nightmare. I paid extra for lead abatement having had positive lead paint tests and having two small kids at home. Their installer's idea of abatement was a joke. I had to stop him several times and insist that he make at least some effort to isolate the work area. He later used a blower to clean dust instead of a HEPA vac. Lead abatement guidelines are fairly clear and dumbed down so that anyone can reasonably follow them, so this was simply a lack of training or effort. On top of the lead situation, the installation was shoddy - poor alignment, bad shimming, unpatched nail holes in trim, - I could go on.
Home Depot has responded to the lead problem reasonably well thus far, but I was completely stonewalled with excuses on the shoddy work.
The bottom line is I'll be spending a weekend or two tearing up trim and shimming to fix this myself after paying a fortune to have it done "professionally."
