The Michelangelo Resort & Spa is a 5 * hotel, which if you go after the following positive points, the 5 * deserves it. However, if you follow the rather negative reviews, in our opinion it only deserves 3.5 *.

First of all: we were in the resort for 12 days and you have to consider that you don't necessarily pay little here. We only had half board and not all inclusive.

First the positive:
- The reception was very friendly and warm. We got a soft drink and a nice gentleman brought us and the suitcases to our room. He then briefly explained to us where we could get the beach towels and what is where.
- The view from the balcony is simply amazing and you look over the sea to Turkey (Attention: pay attention to mobile communications, because Turkish network does not belong to EU roaming and is chargeable)
- The breakfast and dinner are great and there is always something different on offer for 7 days. The buffet is repeated after 7 days.
- The staff (with one exception) is super friendly, nice, helpful and very competent. It is astonishing that the waitresses can remember what you had drunk the night before and we were always asked if everything was good and how we were. Small talk was also included.
Biggest compliments to the staff!
- The location of the hotel is rather remote. Which is actually very nice. With the rental car or the bus, which leaves about every 40 minutes, you can get to Kos town or the thermal baths in no time. Bus travel is very cheap here. You only have to pay 2 per person and it's an adventure.

Now the negative:
- The gentleman at the beach bar is a bit unsympathetic and not necessarily the friendliest here.
- The room
Black spots in the bathroom at the joints and the shower wall. The faucet on the sink is calcified, as is the shower head and its bracket. Unfortunately, no dust is wiped and hair from the previous guest is also flying around in the room. The balcony is dirty and is not cleaned. A chair on the balcony will soon fall apart.
In general, the condition is rather bad. The cupboard in which the refrigerator is hidden falls apart and there is no minibar. The glasses are simply rinsed briefly and residues remain on the glass. It is not really swept or wiped, the dirt is constantly flying around in the room. Ants are permanent guests. The TV is outdated, the sound of the TV is rather poor and the picture is no longer the best either.

To put it in a nutshell

We think that you are paying way too much money and that there are certainly better hotels on the island. 5 * didn't deserve it and for 5 * it just got extremely depressed, because the furniture hasn't been renewed since it opened and unfortunately it runs through the whole hotel.
