This was our first time visiting LA Zoo, and we had a wonderful experience in spite of the pandemic or shall I say thanks to the silver lining of the pandemic? We went at 10am on a weekday and it was not crowded at all. The walkways were wide and there was plenty of space to spread out and socially distance. Small viewing courts were taped off, but we could still see the animals just fine from the outside. Most other visitors wore masks and were respectful of social distancing. There were 6-feet markers all over the ground, but I think what helped the most was that there just weren t that many people around.

We didn t use the bathrooms so can t comment on the cleanliness, but there were no lines outside for sure.

Food options seemed limited there was a truck selling pre-packaged ice cream bars, and we smelled something like a grill, but most other food vendors appeared to be closed.

Outdoor souvenir stands near the entrance are open, and you can still buy thing from the big store, but you can t go in. We asked for toddler T-shirts and the staff brought out all 5 options they had and laid them out on the table outside the store for us to see. (They re $20 each and unfortunately none of them had a good picture of animals, so we didn t end up buying any.)

Overall, it was great to see the animals without the crowd, and we would definitely recommend going!

Many thanks to the hardworking LA Zoo staff for reopening and keeping everyone safe!
