Review of Comfy

While this company truly produces a good product, ...

While this company truly produces a good product, the entire shopping experience was one of deep frustration for us and we cannot recommend the comphy company overall. We bought some king size bed sheets for a whopping 150$ - not cheap, but the quality is supposed to be great. On top, we agreed to 30$ shipping costs to Canada (shipping costs in the US would have come to 18$ so we decided to pay the extra buck). How shocked we were, however, when the UPS guy at our front door charged us another 105$ for shipping fees and customs duties! In the end we paid 285$ !!! for some bed sheets. After filing a complaint to customer service, we were briefly told that under Terms and Conditions, customers are informed to pay extra fees! WHO on earth reads through terms and conditions when shopping online? The 105$ add. costs charged by the carrier were explained to us the following way: 45$ brokerage fees (!), taxes on the brokerage fee (!), 30$ customs duties and 20$ provincial taxes. To make this story short, no country and no province on this planet charges such heavy taxes and fees (Canada is at 12%, which is equal to a fair 18$, nowhere close to what we paid). It is clearly UPS that has the audacity to cheat unknowing customers who shop online and internationally (who doesn't). BUT, it is in the end the c. company that deserves the criticism as they choose to cooperate with such a logistics company b) that does not better warn its customers of this fraught, and c) that apparently does nothing to change this highly dissatisfying situation for its customers like they could. Warn us better. Use a different deliverer. And encourage customers to pick up their ware at the border themselves. Instead, the shipping costs they charge (what for again?) are HIGHLY misleading. We buy regularly merchandise in the US, be it on amazon, be it macy's, etc. NEVER did we have to pay almost TWICE the original price for a product that in the first place is not exactly cheap. We are still wondering why we paid C.C. some shipping fees (30$), if UPS charged us an additional 105$. No answer was provided in my email to them.

Again, a product sold for 150$ came to 285$. Can this be justified? We live only minutes away from the Canadian border. We even could have picked up the product at a US post office close to the border. Only if we had gone through terms and conditions!
