Called to book a service appointment for my Elant...

Called to book a service appointment for my Elantra because my engine light came on, was told it would be 2+ weeks before someone would even look at my vehicle. After calling 2 more Hyundai dealerships and being told similar 2-3 week service appointment openings and explaining my situation, that my car was acting funny and I was uncomfortable continuing to drive it- I ended up calling a small independent mechanic. Although this mechanic was also booked up and didn't have any open appointments for 2 weeks or later as well, he offered for me to come in immediately to at least read the error code from the engine light warning. He actually helped me same day and seemed to care about my well-being. Although I love my Elantra and have never had issues, I was surprised how little the dealership cared. Why wouldn't you offer to read the error code or at least offer me the option of calling me if there were any cancellations? I don't think the service desk could have expressed less interest or cared less, so I feel compelled to leave this negative review.
