Karpendonske Hoeve gives the impression of a restaurant stuck in a glamorous past. Everything about the restaurant, from the decor to the food reminds one of this. The furniture, the cutlery, the ambience all gives a hint of something very expensive and excellent quality, but from decades ago. The food is inline with the impression of the ambience, old but gold. They seem to do traditional flavours well. But not a hint of experiments, creativity and something original.

For me personally, Karpendonske hoeve did not meet expectations. Perhaps they cater to an idea long in the past and only upheld by people of the past. The skills, knowledge, culture created in places such as this are precious. If the restaurant wants not only to invite the present but lead the way into the future, it must reinvent itself.
