This was a great place for dad to be as long as he was able to be in the independent side and socialize with friends. Once he had to be moved to assisted, we were not happy with the care he received. He had dementia and on two separate occasions, lab people came in at 2 am to draw blood from him. He was obviously aggressive with the nurse and they called me to complain about his behavior. What person wakes up someone with dementia in the middle of the night to take blood?? Nursing staff changed a lot and I feel like that was a big part of the problems we had. His apartment wasn t kept clean unless I complained. They told his friend who would come to take him downstairs to eat that it was her responsibility to dress and clean him up if she wanted it done by a certain time (she was 92).
Families spend a small fortune to have their loved one cared for by the best people possible, and I truly don t feel like that happened. We ended up moving him to Baptist Hospice in Collierville after a hospital visit and that s the best decision we made. One last note, be sure you understand the refund policy for the buy-in money. You will not get your 90% of the buy in money refunded until they sell another unit of the type you bought into. We were on a list behind 3 people to get our money and it took about 6 months.
