After seeing some negative reviews (???) of Dr. Anson, I had to relay to you my personal experiences with him over the years: In 2013 I was walking with a cane (maximum distance was 1/2 block) and in severe pain 24 hours per day mainly caused by sciatic pain going down both legs into my feet. He diagnosed my spinal problems at the L4/L5 & L3/L4 regions. He suggested I do try various physical treatments first before surgery and I said none of that had helped in the past and I refuse to live in any kind of drug-induced state. I wanted him to operate on both the L4/L5 & L3/L4 regions at the same time. He refused stating that would only do the worst first (L3/L4) and go from there...
He performed a laminectomy and a foraminotomy followed by the insertion of a 'coflex'. (Please research all 3 of these procedures !!!)
Once I awoke from the operation I was completely free of the pain that had debilitated me for over a decade. Within one hour I was walking. I felt as though I could have left the hospital right then and there but I heeded their advice and stayed overnight.
In 2016 the L4/L5 started to bother me. Back to Dr. Anson I went. He set up the next operation for 30 days later. This time it would only be for the coflex. I was operated on at 9 am and walked out of the hospital 2 hours later... My wife was still shopping was surprised she had to pick me up so soon. Now the only medication I take is for my blood pressure -- I am completely free of pain because of the surgical skills of Dr. Anson.
Dr. Anson was one of the first doctors in the US to use the coflex procedure -- It is a titanium 'spring-like' mechanism that gives you total mobility -- The way God made you! No cement, screws or rods which all eventually worsen your condition and increase your pain. Please research the horrendous drawbacks to these dark-ages procedures !!!
Dr. Anson is a highly renowned brain surgeon! I researched his creds before I first contacted him -- He was written up in the Las Vegas Review for the remarkable brain surgery he performed on a young girl involved in a plane crash -- His skills saved her life!
I recommended Dr. Anson to a friend, a dancer with a degenerative spinal condition. She could barely move her neck and was in constant pain. Her recovery took longer -- about a week -- but the results were the same; she is pain free and has complete mobility of her neck.
Finally, always remember that the spine is an extension of the brain: Only a Neurosurgeon should operate on the spine !!! Orthopedic doctors (bone doctors) do spinal operations at a lower cost and are always recommended by your insurance carriers for less than noble reasons. Never let a bone doctor work on your brain !!!
Okay, one more final: Rods, screws and cement in your spine will, in my opinion and experience, destroy any possibility of you having a normal future without constant pain and restricted movement.
