The screen and the sound were perfectly fine here, and the decor was nice, as was the charming bar. There's much to like about the space, and the front desk was friendly.
However, for me, the seats are woefully unergonomic: they're a few inches too tall, so your legs feel pressure behind the knee, and there's next to no back/lumber support - this is for the standard-style cinema chairs that make up about 60% of the seats at the Lexi. The other chairs are basic lounge/bar chairs. Sitting behind these rows isn't ideal because the occupants sit-up very vertically, which makes them hard to see over/around (I'm an average height of 5'10", just in case people think I'm a dwarf!).
The most off putting thing about this cinema is the other attendees - it was very busy, and the atmosphere was rather passisive-aggressive, with people being quite unpleasant when asking for seats. We watched one woman sternly fending off others in her attempt to reserve a seat for her friend, and causing a lot of consternation in the process.
I know profit's from this cinema go to charity, which is commendable, but perhaps as a consequence the audience has a rather moralistic attitude. Maybe I was expecting people to be friendly, but that was definitely not the case with the other cinema-goers. Gulp...you don't see this behaviour in your average Odeon!
I've no doubt that maybe if I were seeing a less of an arthouse film, the audience wouldn't have been so pretentious and rude and I would have given a better review here. But alas, it is an arthouse cinema, and I can only imagine the audiences are often a bit arsy
